I created the scene in mad libs format:
Me: Give me a book character
Teen: Katniss
Me: Katniss was found dead in the...give me a place
Teen: The library
Me: Katniss was found dead in the library! Your job is to find out who did it. Her injuries were so severe that the authorities can't figure out what the murder weapon was, and it's possible that she was killed somewhere else and moved here. Here is your list of possibilities.

Thank you Karen Cookie Jar for the cusomizable clue sheet.
Set up:
After choosing the suspects, weapons, and places, I made 3x4 in. cards with pictures. I also made signs for each place to put on the board. I sectioned off each place with painters tape, and put down scrap paper for the board spaces. The set up time to tape everything down took about an hour. I bought an inflatable dice for a few bucks on Amazon.
Note: it would have taken forever to blow up the dice without my co-workers tire inflator!
Game Play:
After setting the scene as I did above, I took out a random card from each category, then shuffled the remaining cards and passed them out to the players. They each got a guess sheet and a pencil. I had them choose their character and start next to the place their character is associated with (Harry Potter starts by the Room of Requirement). They rolled the giant dice and played just like the board game. I also played the soundtrack to the Clue movie in the background.
Notes:
I have seen versions where librarians have taped the entire board. I tried that once, but I liked taping the pieces of paper down way better. It's easier to set up this way. Next time I will also try to have weapon and costume props.
It was a low attendance of 3, but they had a great time. The last time I tried it I had higher attendance, but people kept talking and getting distracted instead of playing the game.
